Classes Start Spring 2011

It really started with my intention to stop by a neighbor/visiting teaching sister’s home and let her know I was thinking of her and to check on her.

Her husband lost his job – again :/

Rick was in a meeting with her and others on Sunday and there were tears. So, I thought to bring her chocolate and to see how she was. Her hubby answered the door and she came shortly with their only little one :) She was in good spirits, and we 3 just chatted at the door for a bit – Carice was in the car waiting for me

(and maybe for more chocolate I told her I’d give her.)

But prior to this visit, I stopped by at a home and to a woman I had never met. A good friend of mine was told about her through someone else and thought my good friend could be of help. Both have husbands serving in Afghanistan. My good friend is nearing the end of her goodbye – the other… just beginning.

As I was driving to Layton last night, I was thinking of this woman. My good friend had brought this woman dinner and flowers and earlier had relayed her experience with this woman to me.

And I just felt bad.

I’ve seen my good friend through this trying time of having her husband gone and I know

['know', but not really, "know" - y'know?]

how hard it has been.

I was friends with her before her hubby left, but now I feel I can call her my ‘good friend’ after this trying time of having a husband gone, a new home, a new baby, 4 other children to tend to + a myriad of other things that fell on her shoulders.

And me trying to be of help to her, if I could.

So, I leave Carice in the car and head up the long steps to this woman’s front door. She answered and I explained who I was and about how her husband was in Afghanistan (he just left yesterday, so on his way) and thought she could use some chocolate. I had wrapped a ribbon around the Symphony bar with a small note with all my family’s names and my phone number.

I know it would be weird for her to call me since I am a stranger. But she was appreciative, I think.

I said a garbly silent prayer to Heavenly Father as I was driving back into my neighborhood that what ever was to be of that experience –

I think when we all get that we are all in this together – how much happier and peaceful we will be.

this = earthly life – and we are all in it together.

How much easier it is when we have someone to help us with the weight of our burdens.

I know I have been a recipient and I’m sure you have too. It’s awesome!

And sucks, when you don’t have help :/

I went over to my good friend’s house after everyone else – I had some calendar scheduling of upcoming events to go over with her – and to give her chocolate.

Rick showed/informed me of this totally awesome art by my littlest love. (she was in bed for the night when I saw it)

I have flowers and shoes and skin-colored legs. Rick has a bow-tie.

(And –  in my opinion –  apparently… if I wear my hair just right… my husband will look like Batman !)

Christmas Love of a Pillow Pet (she got the Bumble Bee)

For the Dakota Girls’ Christmas Party we have the option of bringing a white elephant gift for an exchange.

This year I decided on a paper clip necklace – Big paper clips alternated with small paper clips.

But this is the package it came in !  hee hee :)

I found that signature Tiffany blue color in scrapbook paper at JoAnn’s and used it to cover a lidded box.

But prior to, printing Tiffany & Co. on the paper.

It wasn’t on straight, and there was a little void of blue paper, but I think it turned out awesome  :)

The gift was even traded after the initial opening!

I ended up taking home 2 cupcakes after a trade of a class candle holder. Sweet !
