Gardening 101
Hahahaha Ha! I give you permission to laugh with me as the title above is funny. What I know about gardening, as the saying goes, could fill a thimble.
Well, I know a little. My parents had a garden or two (or more?) that I remember as a child. It was enough to provide some tasty (and not so tasty- can you say black eyed peas?-ick!) food for our family. And that is my main purpose, really.
And to share with the neighbors and to give a break to the grocery bill.
I plan on naming my garden to play-pretend. (why should toddlers get all the fantasy fun? :)
But I want to be a successful gardener, so I ordered these lovelies: one big book and a subscription.
Pay no mind to the chicken on the front of my Organic Gardening Magazine. I will not be housing chickens in my back yard. I’ll take mine natural, frozen and prepackaged from Target, thank you very much. However, I thought of sending this article to my Alaskan Sister who is housing chickens somewhere near her home. She’s good with animals and I heard there is one chicken in particular that likes my brother-in-law – a ‘chick magnet’ is what they call him. LOL!
I found this great article about those darn ‘citronella’ plants, that incidentally, we did plant tonight in our front patch under the living room window. Earlier in the day, I mockingly talked to Rick on the phone about that plant being some kind of hybrid and sure enough…
Oh well, we shall see what we shall see on that.
The article did list other plants to repell as well. Not sure if I will plant any of those, but it may be of interest to others in this area.
It gets itchy in our neck of the woods!!
