In the Presence

“Hello, Sweetheart.” or “How are you, Sweetheart.” is what Elder Dallin H. Oaks said to Carice as he put his hand on her little 2 and half year old head. (me and my poor memory – yeesh)

He said hello to Cali and shook her hand and gave her a big ol’ smile, as well as Rick and my hands. He looked right at us – so personal and friendly.

We had an honored Stake Conference yesterday.

I could feel the tears wanting to swell within me as I was in the presence of an Apostle of the Lord, Jesus Christ. The feeling of the Spirit was so strong as I was coming closer to him. This morning I thought of this experience and the scripture account came to mind of when two of His disciples were walking on the road to Emmaus.

“And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?” (Luke 24:32). They then realized it was the Savior that had been with them.

Elder Oaks said in the beginning of his talk that he likes to shake the hands of as many people as he can. Not so much because the listeners will remember what he says, but what they feel. I found that to be completely true. He said that was the Spirit and not him, Brother Oaks.

Can you imagine what it must feel like to be in the presence of the Savior, when just being near one of his earthly ordained witnesses results in an overwhelming, powerful, warm, strong feeling of the Spirit?

Wow.

Wow, wow. wow.

I’ll say it again…

Wow!
