Moore4 vs. Water
*heavy deliberate sigh* I guess we just wouldn’t be us, if we didn’t have a little water damage to brighten up our otherwise dull existence. Our new house, y’know the one that is only 5 months old practically on this very day, has a bunk on the head. How bad, we don’t know.
Cali noticed something on the ceiling over the gaming table tonight. That something was (is) a paint bubble. Rick noticed also some sort of ‘line’ going across a portion of the ceiling left of the bubble. We were watching our neighbor’s daughter tonight, so we didn’t do much about it till later.
I got up on the table and poked my finger in the bubble. It gave way and felt soft.
We have wet drywall.
Rick got out our huge white note binder from Woodside Homes and found an emergency number to call. The dispatch relayed our message and minutes later someone called back. The caller thought there may be some ‘flashing’ of a vent/ something not sealed, I guess. He said we could poke a hole to let it drain. Sure enough, Rick took a steak knife to the bubble and water came out. We have to call the warranty dept tomorrow.
An IKEA waste bucket sits on our table catching the horror. I don’t know what this means. We think we have to pull down the Billys and get ready for reconstuction.
One of my worst nightmares has come true.
You have got to be kidding! I swear trouble follows you everywhere. Poor house. Poor Moore’s. :)
on January 29th, 2009 at 10:24 pmOh no! It’s a good thing you caught it now while your house is less than a year old. We had a hiccup too in our 1st year. Our walkway to the front door sank and the cement pad cracked in half. Warranty covered the new pad. We hope your repairs will be minimal, quick and free. Sorry your house got a bunk on the head. :(
