Moore4 vs. Water – Con’t

Scott, the warranty dude, came to our house late morning today. He climbed into the square hole in the hallway that leads to our attic to check on our furnace. He found the culprit. The condensation from the furnace that is supposed to be finding its way through a PVC pipe and out in to a drip pan by the water heater in the garage was backed up. He said the pipe was clogged. (It confirmed what the warranty lady said on the phone before the dude ever came out here.)

Some other dude arrived around lunch time from the air conditioning and heating company and went to see what the story was in the attic. Luckily, per sey, there was a huge drip pan of about 8 feet long (I’m assuming it was the length of the furnace unit) catching the water, but it was overflowing it now. A part on the furnace was broken. He went to get the repair part, returned, and then seemed to work forever up there. Even brought in a new long pipe. He didn’t have a shop vac to use, so he had to sop up the remaining water (equivalent to about 2 gallons he estimated) with a towel he borrowed from us putting it in a large bucket of his own that I’m assuming didn’t go through the pipe and out to the garage. The drywall is wet, but it didn’t seem to be a huge spot from what they described.

Our ‘bubble’ doesn’t seem to be leaking any water tonight. The furnace dude will be back tomorrow to check it all out. It has to be all working properly before they replace any drywall.

In a sense, this is better news than a leaky roof or some unsealed vent, but still this sucks big time. On a side note, I was talking to a fellow ward member/neighbor tonight and found out the same thing happened to their house!! Not good. And it took longer for them to get someone out to get it all completely repaired. Good to know, so I can keep on them if need be. So far, every one has been quick to our aid and very nice.

My fear, of course, is mold. Nasty, nasty, sickly mold growing, but hopefully we caught the leak early enough, it will dry out some and we will get the drywall replaced and have no other ramifications.

*fingers and toes crossed*

For some reason, my anxiety meter is not completely off the charts. Not completely normal for me. I, of course, have been praying about this and somehow have felt okay. We are still not out of the woods, and would politely ask you if you have a tiny space in your own prayers tonight to include us and our beloved home.

We love it here and want to spend the rest of our mortal days in a healthy happy home.

Thank you, my loves…
