Our Two Sweet Girls

Graduation, Celebrations, Medications and Visitations

Rick was disappointed that I decided to end the blog. He said he liked having access to it whenever he wanted to read and/or reread it. I’m sorry, Love ;( But publishing that blog was like being at an activity with no one talking to you while you were there. So, I am done with that blog party. (Steph did leave one last comment, but that was all I received..thanks friend!) I didn’t intend on not writing anymore. The blog was a way to share the “here and nows” but I also felt like I was writing our history for the girls to have and for whomever else.

I really enjoy writing. I thought about something Steph had said on her food blog about how she didn’t realize how much she enjoyed cooking/baking until now but, essentially, with kids and and a husband, and a life busy with all that, there was no time to attend culinary school. After reading that, it made me realize that’s how I feel about writing. I wish I would have known how much I really like doing this way back when and went to college becoming a lit. major. I feel I express myself so much better in writing than in the spoken word. But... oh, well, this is my outlet for now. And I feel rather free in writing journal style rather than publishing it now on a blog.

We had another ‘ending’ this month as well, Cali finished her preschool year and had an adorable graduation ceremony at the Draper Library. They had the children wear their dad’s white dress shirt backwards (it acts as a grad gown) and then they borrowed real fabric white graduation caps to wear. They sang songs they learned along with their ‘school song’ and also told what they wanted to be when they grew up. Cali, of course, said an EMT :) There were some future professionals and a few princess wanna-bes and I think a power ranger! Cali’s class also recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Miss Debi felt it was important for them to learn that and they did an excellent job. I’ll miss Miss Debi. She really cared about my feelings for Cali and Cali herself. I was so glad we found Stepping Ahead Preschool. I think it will be so much easier to transition to Kindergarten for Cali and me! since we had this first experience with school. We gave Miss Debi a nice lotion from Whole Foods and a homemade card with a picture of Cali on it. Gramma Shelly and Grandpa Steve came to see Cali graduate and went with us to the Harmon’s parking lot to the snow shack to share in a celebratory snow cone. Yummm...

We had a little bit of a celebration for Daddy on Father’s Day. We got a Boston Cream Cake from Harmon’s Bakery and I surprised him with the infamous “KERN” jacket from Veer. They were sold out for awhile and so I was happy I remembered to check and ordered early. :) And sadly it’s a little too warm for jackets, but come fall, my honey will be stylin’ design style! Happy Father’s Day to the best Daddy in the world! The girls are the luckiest.

I am also the luckiest (which also happens to be the title of Rick and my ‘song’ from Ben Folds), Rick and celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary this month. I said to him, “ I don’t remember a blasted thing they said to us.” “Neither do I.” he replied. Silly, us :) He does remember “sitting on that little couch” and I do too. This was where we were waiting all dressed and ready to be married before entering the sealing room of the Portland Temple. I do remember not being able to get his ring on his finger and I’m pretty sure he had to finish the job!! :) Now with two precious little girls and all, we didn’t go anywhere except to IKEA to enjoy a delicious cinnamon roll for an anniversary treat. There will be time to spend together once the girls are doin’ their own thing.

My sweet Carice this month has had another menu full of Tylenol. Yep, more sicknesses. We are ending the month with a second round of antibiotics for her ear infection of her left ear! I feel bad, I did miss some doses of her amox. but this new antibiotic is only one dose a day and we only have 5 days left. I haven't missed one yet! *phew*. Yucky viruses and infections... go away, bugs!! She is such a cutie, though. She and Cali have been watching Bugs Bunny, among a few other shows we have downloaded since we don’t have a working TV. At first I thought I shouldn’t let them watch Bugs and Elmer Fudd; it seemed so violent! (Does counting to 10 before Elmer fires his shotgun into Bugs’ hole in the ground count as educational?!) Yeesh. Should I mention how Rick and I used to be glued to the TV set on Saturday mornings when we were kids watching the very same shows?) Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and Elmer have obviously withstood the test of time; the girls laugh and love it :)

We love our house! We have been to Farmington pretty much every week to check it out. We walked around the bones of the house with Gramma and Steve in the beginning of the month after taking Gramma out to dinner for her birthday. And the following week we had our official ‘walk-through’ with our superintendent. This was to go over all the electrical ‘stuff’. Gramma came and stayed with the girls in the car. Everything looked good, but the lights in the dining room we had moved to fill the space more evenly and we were told we were to receive can lights in the kitchen, but one of those hideous bulb lights was getting ready to move in, so had that adjusted to four can lights designed over the kitchen/bar area. The week after that it was nothing but sheet rocking debris everywhere, with the workers actually doin’ their thing at that time, so we didn’t walk through. And then the last weekend we drove up there was scaffolding about the house because of the stucco, so we didn’t walk around. Rick wanted to go and get the key from the office still, but I wanted to wait until it was more cleaned up. Anyhoo, it is coming along. I still don’t know when we will be moving in, but we have been trying to get some things done in Draper and got a few things packed. I hope it’s an easy move :)

Wait, what? You don't have an Apple Key?

Oh.

Well, I guess that must mean you don't have a Mac and I... uh... well, uh... I don't think I can be friends with someone that doesn't own a Mac....

(silence) (crickets chirping)

Bahh! haa!! Just kididng... you know how Mac people are :) hee hee hee.

No, really, this blog party is done, we are just in the process of getting things transferred so we can get our blog/ family history printed and then I can pull this puppy down.
