Wubbzy, A Scooter, Updates and Sayonaras
Looney Tunes still in, but Wow, Wow Wubbzy: totally in. Yes, we are still living without a TV and through the day to day life we are living, we are doing pretty darn good without it. We are still using our downloaded children shows and Cali rediscovered Wubbzy on Nick Jr.’s website. She used to play a game on that site a while back and now she found full length videos of the actual show too. Anyway, we are all in love. I particularly love the music. So much so that Rick downloaded the MP3 to my phone and now whenever he calls the Wow Wow Wubbzy theme plays away. I have to admit, I’ve had to take a double take and realize that I am receiving a phone call and not hearing the website playing! The girls have been coloring Wubbzy and his friends (Widget is Cali’s favorite character) also and Cali’s wall by her bed is happily decorated.
We were invited over to Aunt Steph and Uncle Nate’s house for a BBQ on the 4th of July. Back at home later that evening, we decided to walk up on the back of our townhome complex to see fireworks, but the sprinklers were on and we didn’t brave through it. We ended up driving to a open lot area near the firehouse and sat in the back of our xB and got to see firework shows from Riverton and Sandy at the same time! It was a warm night. But it was fun to spend that time together as a family. And of course we have spent every Saturday this month driving up to see the progress on the house.
The second Saturday we weren’t able to get in :(. Scott wasn’t there and the key(s) that we were given didn’t work. I was very disappointed. By week three we saw kitchen and bathroom cabinets installed and most of our tile flooring, too. We also took a video of it, uploaded it to YouTube and emailed a copy to show my family, but I’ve yet to hear from them to know if they viewed it or not. The video was weak in some spots, but what the hey, it was our first attempt! Week four showed not much done. It had been a short week due to the holiday (Pioneer Day) so there was some electrical work done and the yard was graded, but that was about it. I also saw boxes of our interior light fixtures sitting and ready to be unpacked and installed, I assumed.
We decided to head downtown and spend some time at the Discovery Museum on Pioneer Day. Rick had the day off. He and I have decided we aren’t really impressed with the place for the size of it, what there is to do and the amount of money spent just to get in the joint. We bought the 6 month pass last time and so we needed to (and still need to) use it. It is valid until October. But, I guess it’s for children and I think the girls had a good time. Glad Carice was feeling well to go.
She has been sick yet again. She was finishing up antibiotics early in the month only to catch a cold six days after and then she was back on antibiotics five days after that for another ear infection! Oy vey. I was thinking that maybe we need to have a Fast for her to help her stay healthy. We just can’t keep this girl unsick! It’s been a couple of days of no antibiotics now, so hopefully she will be good at least to summer’s end. Right? She still is the cutest girl, though. She likes to take the edge of her blankie and roll it up (I’ve dubbed it a ‘cinnamon roll”) and then hold it near her face or bump her nose with it while she sucks her thumb! And she likes to put socks on her hands! (silly goose) She likes to play dress up at this early age. She is our little diva fashionista! I guess having a big sister to show you how helps. She’s also mastered the 3-wheeled Dora scooter and has exclaimed while riding, “I do-ning it!” So cute, cute, cute!
I was meaning to make it to all five storytimes at the library this month with the girls, but managed to only make it to three. Well, the first one, Carice was having a blow out tantrum, if I remember correctly, so Daddy was kind enough to watch her for me while Cali and I went. But the the second time went well with me and the girls. We enjoyed a lunch at Wendy’s together afterward. And then the final story time for the summer we went with Aunt Steph, Abbi and Ben. Again, Carice had a emotional meltdown before leaving the library and so needless to say, we brought Wendy’s home with us this time! Cali and Abbi played for a little while, but Benni needed his nap so they didn’t stay long. Steph wrote a nice e-mail to me about Cali.
In spite of Steph’s sweet comment about me, I probably can be dubbed a ‘mean mom’. I decided not to tell Cali about her dental checkup until about an hour before her appointment. She knew quite a bit earlier that it was coming, and it was written on the calendar, but she forgot out it. I knew she would just worry about it, so I sprang it on her then. She wasn’t wanting to go, but she made it through. All except doing the bitewing x-rays. She wouldn’t do them. Tiffany, the hygienist, gave them to her to practice at home. Cali also is getting her 6 year molars already. Her permanent incisor teeth have come in on the bottom, but there is some crowding. She most likely has to have some orthodontics. Which I worry about because of her strong gag reflex. Her and impressions? Not gonna be good. But here is something good, she learned to ride her bike without training wheels last month. I forgot to report! It took her a couple days of so. Daddy was a good teacher. Although, she has struggled with seeing other children still having training wheels on their bikes and wanting them back. It finally dawned on me (as Rick and I have been feeling frustrated with her wanted to go ‘backwards’) that it is her slow transitioning personality kicking in….her skill level is there, but her emotional readiness; not there.
We’ve spent a lot of time out in the ‘back yard’ after dinner. It’s a little cooler then and if the girls get filthy (which they usually do) we can plunk them in the bath and end the day. We’ve been keeping such crazy summer hours! Up late in the evening, and consequently, up late in the mornings.
Daddy however is keeping a sometimes early schedule, and a sometimes not so early schedule; depends on the day. He is still loving working for the Church. And I also forgot to report that they were considering moving his department down here in the south of the valley! There is office space in Riverton that they most likely will move to. He found out there will be a meeting on the 22nd of August to find out the final scoop. This actually means, though, that I might have a huzbind working more from home than going into the office. There will still be meetings he will have to go to,(downtown and otherwise) and he may end up in Riverton at least one day a week (a long drive from Farmington), but to have him home more…I would love it!
Rick’s also been hard at work on his latest freelance job; redoing logo, print work and website for Sherman Kendall Academy (local beauty school). And he has a friend at work that has developed an application for the iphone called MileBug that he asked Rick to do a logo design. He is trying to get all that finished up as he has an even bigger freelance job to start working on. He will be helping Juna do contract work for CafePress. Rick and Juna have three shops on there now, Detour Designables, Geeky Teez and Be Green Teez. I failed to mention, (I have to play catch up!) that 1) there were some legality issues surrounding their TV Teez shop. Cafepress worked with them on what they could keep, but they ultimately decided to pull the whole shop down. They kept a few designs and moved them to their other shop. This was a big bummer for them as it was a profitable shop. And 2) when Rick and Juna were contacted way back when regarding their designs for ‘Heroes’, they basically were offered to pay out a six figure to be allowed to produce designs pertaining to this TV show. Needless to say, they pulled the designs off Cafepress as there was no way in heck they were ever gonna do that! So…as of May, Juna and Rick celebrated their 3 year anniversary with CafePress! Congratulations, you two! :) We went over to the Duncan’s house for a nice slab of anniversary cake. And Cali had fun on the trampoline with their kids as well as enjoying the cake :)
As for the Mommy, I’ve officially said sayonara to sole.sak for now; there just isn’t enough Benjamins to go around at the moment. I finally e-mailed Susie at A Natural Home, who was not only going to help me finish up the final pattern design but manufacture for me! *sigh* to say it just isn’t gonna work out right now. Rats. Double rats. All in good time, I guess, all in good time…
I did, however, start a more ‘fun’ blog (sorry, this one is a lot of work!) called Books at Bedtime. It is a collection of children’s books that I and/or the girls have really liked. I love to visit the library, as you know, and so Rick designed me a perfect blog to record our great finds. I suppose the type of books I post about will change over the years as the girls grow, but for now, it is all about the great reads we find in the children’s section. And now that Cali will be attending elementary school.. whoo, hoo, hoo! what fun books we will be exposed to! Remember, books are intelligent gifts ;)
It’s so nice to hear the sweets of your little family! We had so much fun yesterday playing! So sorry about Cali’s foot, hopefully it wasn’t too traumatic for her at bathtime! Thanks for playing and updating us! Love you guys!
