Juggling June
Wwwhhhaaaaaahhhh!! Daddy's new work commute to downtown is killing us all! Whaaahh *sob, sob* {blow nose, wipe tears}. Uh, huh, huh. Okay.... (sniff, sniff) I feel better now. Actually, it was mostly the first day or so. He went in at 9:00am the first day and I think it was that day that I remember calling him around 5:30pm asking something like this, "Are you remotely close to home?" Crimanittly. There has been the equation of the drive: car+ train or car - train dilemma. As the month wore on we got a pretty good schedule going. He was home just after 5:00pm with the train and about 4:30pm sans train. But when you are used to Relief...er, uh....the Daddy, walking in at 3:50pm, that last hour or so is pathetically hard. Somehow the Mommy completely peders out at 4pm on the dot. However, the new job is going good. Rick actually has to work...ha ha...and not just design yellow page ads while finding out whose Jack Bauer's nemisis "...is working for!!" on the TV show "24". Now what was that about him doing his former job in his sleep?? Rick was (and is) a great multi-tasker.
A baby's paper work is never done. Well, unless she eats it, of course. No worries...she hasn't, but this little cutie loves to 'learn' through that baby mouth of hers! So, we watch. And watch. And watch some more making sure she is safe. She is growing up so fast :) I have been keeping track of how old she is in 'weeks'. In the beginning of a baby's life, this is usually how they are scheduled for check-ups and vaccinations. Well, apparently, I've been reporting her age wrong here in the ol' blog. It's actually kind of been a little experiment, but I guess I put to much stock in to it. She was 44 weeks on June 20 so technically, she should be 11 months old, right? (11mo X 4wks=44) Well, her birthday isn't until Aug 16, so she still has 2 more months to go, making her 10 months in June. Weird how that is, huh??!! :) Are we all older than we really are? I dunno.
But Carice is also busy pulling herself up and 'cruisin' a little too. She even walks a little behind her 'walking toy'. And she tried her first piece of pizza. (I told you, she's adventurous). And to top it all off, she has outgrown her blue baby tub and has found a seat next to big sister in the big tub! We have to admit, its such a cute sight :)Cali seems to like that little sis is getting more mobile and more able to play. I think. A built in friend, what could be better? But then there's the little pat on the head she gives her and says, "Your're a pet!". Well, a playmate or a puppy we still are juggling sharing toys. She's 4, right? So, we have set up 5 special toys she doesn't have to share of her choosing. It helps, sometimes.(?) :) She had a check up with Dr. Price, her eye doctor. She is still holding her progress. She has been doing her eye excercises, her work at home. He gave me a few more gross motor skills for her to try. Developing these is important too just as fine motor skills are, which vision is. So, she will continue to work on stuff with mommy at home for now. We checked into a few different preschools for Cali to attend this fall. She just needs something! I think we found one she might be a good fit with. We will see. She took a ride on the rails (TRAX) this month. We went all the way to each end of the line. I forgot how that train can be so bumpy! It was fun, but hot and tireing too. And Cali got to hold her newest little cousin, Benjamin at his baby blessing. She loves playing with cousin, Abby, too. If Cali's busy, Cali's happy. ;)
The mommy is still, i repeat, still trying to get her business, sole.sak up and running. It's a slow go, but hopefully one day it will come to fruition. And my music calling at church is going pretty well. I have decided to not complain this time around! I have been blessed so much and especially within the last year that it's the very least I can do for the Lord. Rick and I celebrated 11 years of marriage on June 22! Wow...where has the time gone? Oh, yeah...first apartments, a moldy condo, losing thousands of $$$, more apartments, morning sickness(s), heavenly scented and tasty babies, jobs, school, church callings, family spats and make-ups, toddler foibles and scrapes and lots of love, laughter and plenty of juggling all this madness! Here's to many, many more.... ;)
