March Memories
I remember comedian, Jerry Seinfeld, talking about kids. Basically, he was saying how funny it is to find your own things in unexpected places...like your wallet in the trash! ;) Well, in our household, it's the kids' stuff that's hanging out in perculiar places. Somehow there is one pink Cali sock mixed in with my cosmetics; in the hallway, I noticed the folded up stroller leaning against the wall with Hello Kitty underwear perched thereon; (and just recently), a #2 diaper (clean, mind you) setting on top of the bananas. What is going on around here !!?? Life with kids sure has changed how we live. And the old adage of 'kids say the cutest things'? True, too. Cali and I were driving home one day and passed the restaurant, Applebees. I suggested that we could go there for her birthday. Without missing a beat she said, "No. I don't like bees."
Cali dined on mac-n-cheese at Olive Garden for her birthday (I'm surprised she isn't tinged orange as much as she eats of it at home, too). Afterward, we took her to the Build A Bear Workshop. She 'built' a stuffed brown bear and dressed him in a striped shirt and jeans. Giving Bear Bear a 'bath' was her favorite part. We threw her a birthday party with friends a little later in the month complete with cupcakes, presents and a fishing game where she and her little pals got to take home their 'catch' in a paper tote bag they decorated. How can our first baby be 4 years old already! She's growing up so fast and beautiful. She loves to play outside on the playground in our backyard, dig in the 'teeny logs' (bark) with her shovel and ride her bike. She still has to do vision therapy. She has been doing a session every other Thursday in the office and does her 'work' at home about 5-6 days a week. We are in the long haul for this, I'm afraid, but we can't give up. It's her eyesight, so we keep at it. And it will be worth it.
Time spent altering Carice's sleeping and playing habits really have made a difference in her Plagiocephaly. She had her last check-up for physical therapy and I don't think her measurements were quite perfect, but her therapist suggested to have her ped check her as well. She has made a big improvement and is done for now with therapy. I think I'd like to take her back after a few months to measure just for curiosity's sake :) We are so thankful for how well it has corrected itself, though. She is such a happy, mellow baby. She isn't a 'spot of trouble' :). And to think we were worried about finding a nickname(s) for her. Cali was first and seemed to get so many, but I guess it's just the 'Moore way', they have come pretty easily. The latest is Pillsy Wills (semi-short for Silly Pills), Wills, Reesy-Poo, My Love and what all three of us mainly call her, Tilly. She loves to smile, play with toys, chew on folded up drinking straws and watch ever-moving big sis! She is such a beautiful and fun baby to be around.
Not much news this month for me and my hunky husband. Rick is still working hard at Dex and managing to work in all the side jobs. He makes time to come to doctor and therapy appts with me for the girls, which is so nice. He's just kickin' it day after day !! ;) I braved up at the end of the month and saw a dermotologist to evaluate this funky mole I had on the back of my head. The doctor ended up cutting it off (with anesthesia, of course, *phew!*) and because it was in such a crazy place she couldn't really apply a bandage to it. So, she had the assisant help secure the 3x3 pad with an elastic gauzy band around my head. I told the assistant that I had to drive home and people were going to say: " What is that lady doing driving with a concussion?!?" It was hilarious. I was the last patient of the day and luckily, I didn't really have to face a lot of people in the waiting room. When I got in the car, I checked out the head scene in the rear view mirror. My hair was 'poofed up' on top and I legitamately was trying to fix the darn thing so I looked somewhat respectful as I drove home, but it just wasn't working. So, I took my chances and took it off. I was fine and felt even better that I had taken my 'headband' off, as I got caught in a little traffic coming home. It was a little sore, but not much. I was so happy that I did it! Now getting my hair done will be much more easy, relaxing and enjoyable. No more worries about that skinny black comb the stylists use catching on it. Youch!! Now, that's one memory I am glad is in the past.
